Due to public pressure, finally Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah recommends CBI probe into the mysterious death of an IAS officer DK Ravi on monday.
He was referring the case to CBI honouring the feelings of parents of officer D K Ravi and public sentiments. He said “I understand the feelings of Ravi’s parents…. We respect public sentiments..
Before the announcing the decision he said that a preliminary report has been submitted by state’s premier investigation agency, Criminal Investigation Department (CID). However he didn’t read out the content of the this report stating the status of investigation. Karnataka high court on Sunday had barred the government and investigating agency from submitting any interim report.
Chief Minister said that it was not possible for the investigation to be handed to CBI from the beginning itself as the state police had to be given the opportunity to investigate the matter because of the mandate. He told the opposition saying that none of their government had handed over any investigation to the CBI. He also reminded the opposition parties that they have mocked CBI as Congress Bahaco Investigation.
