BJP president Rajnath Singh on Wednesday slammed Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government, saying the present regime is also not functioning properly.
“CPI(M) government destroyed the state in its 34-year regime. It resulted in unemployment, poverty and there was no availability of drinking water,” Rajnath said at a poll rally in Birbhum in support of the BJP candidate Joy Banerjee.
“There were a lot of expectation of the people with the current TMC government but it has failed to live up,” he added.
When asked whether his party will come to power after Lok Sabha polls, Rajnath said the BJP will ascend power with full majority this time.
“As per the present report and survey of various agencies, we will get more than 275 seats.”
Taking a further jibe at the Congress, Singh said the ruling party is desperate and shocked as it fears being unseated from power.
“Just like a fish which cannot live without water, Congress party cannot live without power,” he said.
The BJP chief also said his party is against any move to destabilise any government which comes to power through a democratic process. He also assured of every possible help to the people of West Bengal if his party comes to power.
