2 persons including 1 woman were killed and 77 other injured – six of them critically – today when the bus carrying them skidded off the road and overturned close to Arjun Barod village on Indore-Dewas Highway in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district, police said.
The Ill-fated bus was on its way to Indore from Dewas around noon when it overturned and plunged into a culvert. The deceased have been identified as Anar Singh, 65, and Nirmala Bai, 45, – both residents of Dewas. Anar died on the spot while Nirmala breathed her last on her way to hospital, police said.
Sixty injured have been admitted to MY Hospital and a private hospital, while the rest 17 have are undergoing treatment at Dewas.
The driver lost control of the vehicle running at a high speed. After the incident, Dewas Collector MK Agrawal and other senior police officers rushed to the spot and carried out the rescue operation. Police said investigations were on.
