MC Mary Kom on Wednesday at 6.30 am IST became the first Indian woman boxer to clinch a goldmedal at the Asian Games after she came from behind to beat Kazakhstan’s Zhaina Shekerbekova in the flyweight (48-51kg) summit clash in Incheon, South Korea.
Five-time world boxing champion Mary Kom leads India to the seventh gold in Asian Games 2014. With 47 medals (7 gold, 8 silver and 32 bronze) India start Day 12 at No. 10 position. One more gold medal can take India to top six.
Mary Kom, who won the Olympics bronze in London in 2012, was the subject of a recent Bollywood biopic.
