ICC World Cup 2015: Players not allowed to take the stumps after their victory

Indian skipper is well known for taking the stumps after a victory.but this time he cannot do the same in worldcup 2015 because governing body ICC has told the players not to pick up the stumps. Even after defeating Pakistan, MS Dhoni did not disturb the stumps after his team’s 76 run victory over their rivals.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has warned the players taking part in the World Cup not to take out the stumps, bails as match souvenirs after their respective team has won the match. The specific reason being that these set of ‘LED stumps’ cost USD 40,000 (Rs 24 lakh) and the pair of bails costs as much as Rs 50,000 approximately.

The ‘LED stumps’ were first used during the 2013 edition of ‘Big Bash’ after which they were used on an experimental basis at the World T20 in Bangladesh, where the response was pretty positive.

“Well, this is a very costly system. The entire set-up during a match costs USD 40,000 (Rs 25 Lakh approx), so I don’t allow the players to uproot it during any celebrations,” EcKermann, the inventor of LED stumps, had told PTI in Mirpur.
