Time to rescue the indians stuck in Iraq : Government


New Delhi, June 19 :  One of the Indian nationals trapped in Iraq, Zulfiqar Abbas who returned safely today told that none of the kidnapped nationals have been killed so far but the situation is still very dangerous. Abbas said that “The situation is very dangerous in Iraq specially in Mosul and Tikrit. Iraq doesn’t have enough force to fight the terrorists. The public has now come up with the army after which they have got some strength. None of the kidnapped nationals have been killed till now but the demand of the terrorists is still not yet known. All the nurses are also safe,” 

India has sought help from Iraq’s military forces to rescue over 100 of its national trapped in Mosul and Tikrit, seized by militants from an al Qaida splinter group. As the crisis escalates in Iraq, hundreds of families in India are praying for the safety of their loved ones. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday confirmed that 40 Indian workers working with Tariq Noor al Juda construction company in Iraq have been abducted.
 With the fate of the abducted Indians in Iraq still unknown, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has said that “his government is even ready to pay a ‘ransom’ to bring the Indians back home”. This came after the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that 40 Indians have been kidnapped in Iraq.
 MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that  “We have not received any call of any nature from anyone indicating about ransom or about taking Indians in custody in Iraq,”
 officials said.”The control room was set up after foreign minister Sushma Swaraj convened a meeting with senior officials to evaluate possible strategies for evacuating Indian citizens. The embassy in Baghdad has been asked to update the foreign ministry headquarters every hour”.
